This map shows the plans for WIC fortification around the Demerara River, and indicates the range of the batteries with grey lines.

The construction of British and French defences at the Demerara River amounted to a resumption of the Dutch project plans shown here. For instance, the location of the two French forts known as Le Dauphin and La Reine corresponded pretty closely to the spots that Kanne appoints to the new fortifications on this map.
