The church at Chavakachcheri was the local centre of the Protestant faith. Local inhabitants were taught in the church hall. As many as 1,000 children attended school in Chavakachcheri, although there were only three teachers. The teachers compensated for the lack of staff by organising the older pupils to teach the younger ones. The compilers of this database have not as yet come across a source in the literature that identifies this location as a VOC post.
