This is one of the sheets from Valentyn's Java Major map from his work "Oud en Nieuw Oost-Indiën" which was published between 1725 and 1727. Note the map contains a lot of villages and settlements in the Parahyangan. This information does not occur in other Dutch sources and was possibly derived from cadastre registers from Cirebon. Like on his other maps, Valentyn uses hachures, houses and ricefields as decorations. It is striking the lake near the Nusa Kambangan island (below at the centre of the map) is much larger than its current state. This could either indicate a cartographic mistake or a changed landscape. An otherwise unknown VOC palisade is located near this lake.
