The soldiers in the foreground left are Dutch, behind them are troops allied to the Samorin of Calicut, who is depicted shaking the hand of the Dutch commander. The left-most sailing vessel flies a flag featuring five horizontal bands and a flag with a cross at its top.
According to the index of 'Begin ende Voortgang', the illustration is entitled: In wat maniere hy de Hollanders ontfangt.
