Men of Olivier van Noort go ashore at the island of Principe

The image shows how the Dutch went ashore and, as Van Noort tells it, some of them went to the Portuguese with friendly intentions. Left is the Portuguese fortification and to its right the Portuguese meet the Dutch delegation in an as yet peaceful manner. On the beach lie the boats and stand Dutch crew members.
