Although around 1627 outward-bound ships mostly called at the island of Maio to take on victuals, the nearby islands were likewise investigated with regard to the availability of drinking water and food. On this sheet a note on the little island of Santo Antão (St. Antonio) says that an ‘orchard with apples’ was found there. In addition, some small houses and trees are drawn. The bay of the São Vicente Island contains more annotations, which can not be traced due to the missing index. From the fact that almost one and a half centuries later a new investigation of the two islands was made, see the VEL110-112, we can conclude that up to that time VOC ships did not or only rarely visit them.
