Map of the Cortenduur plantation
Freuytenier, Jan / Boogaert, Cornelis
Title Leupe: Kaart van de plantagien, tusschen de Vrede en Meulwyk.
This map shows the Cortenduur plantation (indicated with the letters A-L); which lies on the Perica, West and East Sappotoni, Pero, Moesisika, and Cawariano creeks.
The survey was requested by Philip van Langen; he obtained this land step by step as is explained on the rightside of the map.
The land turns out to measure 3000 Surinamese acres (1290 hectares).
The De Eendragt plantation as well as the land belonging to the widow of Chaffo is shown to the east of these lands, De Vrede and Cappoerika plantations lay to their south, and the Belair. Poelwijk and Meulwijk plantations to their north.
The land surveyor used older maps of the area made by Cornelis Boogaert as a basis (as is explained in VEL1907).
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 8 January 1734 and ratified on 15 August 1736 in Paramaribo.
Scale of 100 Chains of 5 ½ Rhineland rods = 98 ‘strepen’.
