Map of the Belair plantation
Freuytenier, Jan / Boogaert, Cornelis
Title Leupe: Kaart van de plantagien, tusschen Rietwyk, Timotibo en de Vrede.
This map shows the land of Daniel Wobma (indicated with the letters F, G, H, J, K, L) and Philip van Langen (M, N, O, P, Q, F, V, W); which lies on the creeks Perica, West and East Sappotoni, Pero, Moesisika, and Cawariano.
The survey was requested by Daniel Wobma for his own land as well as that of Philip van Langen, which together make up the Belair plantation.
Their land turns out to measure 3427 Surinamese acres (1473,61 hectares).
The Cortenduur and De Eendragt plantations as well as the land belonging to the widow of Chaffo lie to the east of these lands, the plantations De Vrede and Cappoerika to their east, and the Poelwijk and Meulwijk plantations to their west.
The land surveyor used older maps of the area made by Cornelis Boogaert as a basis.
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 2 March 1734 and ratified on 17 April 1736 in Paramaribo.
Scale of 100 Chains of 5 ½ Rhineland rods = 98 ‘strepen’.
