Map of a lot at the Riddersburgh Plantation
Lavaux, Alexander de
Title Leupe: Kaart van de Plantagie Riddersburg en een daaraan gelegen stuk land.
This map shows a lot of the Riddersburg plantation (indicated with the letter R) belonging to Sir Chevallier and laying north of (above on the map) the Cottica River.
The survey was requested by Pierre Moeyle Chevallier himself after he bought the land to extend his coffee plantation.
The lot turns out to measure 150 Surinamese acres (64,5 hectares).
Adjacent to Riddersburgh, we see The land of Sir Goeijer (to the west), and the land of the widow of Johan Ville Pontoux (to the east).
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 16 February 1735 and ratified on 31 January 1736 in Paramaribo.
Scale of 100 Chains of 66 Rhineland rods = 130 ‘strepen’.
