Map of the Caribbean
Jefferys, Thomas / Sayer, Robert
Title Leupe: The West-Indies, exhibiting the English, French, Spanish, Dutch and Danish Settlements etc.
To draw this overview of the Caribbean Jefferys compiled the work of British, French, Spanish, Dutch and Danish colleagues. To gather all their observations into a single map, he ignored almost all aspects but place names. Only the British islands give a hint of relief and river systems. Mistakes from foreign cartographers are copied too, as the southern tip of Florida, for instance, is depicted as an archipelago.
North is up.
Scale-bar of 400 Statute miles = 100 ‘strepen’.
