Doncker, Hendrick (I)
Title Leupe: Nieuwe Pascaert van West-Indien, de Vaste Kusten en de Eylanden.
This map derives from one of the atlases printed by Hendrick Doncker. It is most likely based on the work of the VOC and WIC mapmaker Claes Heyndricx Gietermaker for which Doncker bought the rights in 1668. As can be expected from the sheets from the sea-atlasses of Doncker this chart contains many ports, rumb lines and indications of shallow waters. Two inset maps of the Golf of Mexico and Curacao can be found at the lower left and upper right of the map.
Scale-bar of 70 German miles = 128 ‘strepen’.
