Title Leupe: Plan of the Town of Basseterre the Capital of Guadeloupe from an authentic survey.
This map was drawn five years after the temporary British occupation of the town (1759-1763) and gives a clear overview of its design and the location of defences as well as the surrounding plantations before the redesign occuring at the end of the eighteenth century.
North is upper right.
Scale-bar of 400 Yards = 50 ‘strepen’.
