Takome, on the northwest coast of Ternate, was a Ternatan town, conquered on the Spaniards by VOC troops and their allies in 1608. Initially an important collection point of cloves, its importance declined as the cultivation of cloves was increasingly moved to the Ambon islands in the course of the 17th century.
