This map dating from 1742 is unsigned but undoubtedly the work of the engineers Carel Gustaaf Schrijver and Godfried Carel Esdré. It covers a small section of the west coast between West Point Bay and Sint Kruis Bay. Various planned batteries or retrenchments have been drawn in, and between Sint Kruis Bay and Klein Sint Kruis Bay a new small fort has been planned, which is shown to a larger scale on the inset map. The scale given on this small map refers to it alone, and not to the profile as is stated. The Klein Sint Kruis Bay, the place where Jacques Cassard’s troops landed in 1713, is also marked.
North is upper left.
Scale-bars of 150 Rhineland rods = [approximately 1 : 3,800] / [detail map] 40 Rhineland Rods = [approximately 1 : 1,000].
