The VOC maintained several comptoirs in the kingdom of Pegu, including that of Siriangh. An office was set up here in 1635. Together with Martavaan, Siriangh was easy to access by water, unlike the other two comptoirs, Ava and Pegu, which were located in the interior. In 1679 the Company decided to disband the offices in Siriangh and Ava due to their 'improper actions and poor negotiation': 'hare onbehoorlyke maniere van doen en de slegte negotie'.
