View of the bay of Nagasaki showing the island of Deshima
Yushi, Ishizaki
Bird's eye view of the bay of Nagasaki, with Dutch and Chinese vessels in the harbour. In the centre the island of Deshima is depicted.
In addition to his paintings in the Chinese style, Ishizaki Yushi specialized in the Japanese painting with western influences. This painting, painted in 1820, is characteristic of Yushi's work. It functioned as a model for later depictions of the port of Nagasaki.
