This work, which the catalogue of the Municipal Museum of Nagasaki lists as 'View of Holland' by the Japanese painter Hara Nanreisai, is probably an imagined image. There are two comparable 'western-style' paintings by Nanreisai in the Nagasaki Municipal Museum, but the artist's true speciality was the Chinese style. There is little information about Hara Nanreisai and/or his training. Because he worked in the style of the Kawamura school, he is generally thought to belong in the Yakushi line.
