View of Batavia's water fort, situated at the mouth of the river.
In the foreground the river of Batavia, with walkers on the shore. On the towpath three men pull a barge along. On the far side of the water the water fort stands with its baroque skylights. To the extreme right Batavia's harbour can be seen.
