The city hall has become (in 2002) the Jakarta History Museum on Taman Fatahillah.

To the left of the city hall is the Tijgersgracht (canal); back right is the Binnennieuwpoortstraat.

Depicted close to the fountain is a Chinese man with his mobile shop and a man carrying two buckets on a pole, a 'pikolan'.
