View of the city hall on Batavia, featuring in the foreground the Koningsplein (King's Square) with fountain, waterbearers and people out for a stroll. The city hall is shown centre rear. Its gable bears a number of coats of arms, featuring among others the Dutch lion rampant, the VOC monogram and the Batavia coat of arms.
To the left the Tijgersgracht is shown, with the Nieuwpoortstraat and the Nieuwe Hollandse kerk (church) featured right.
