The governor's residence at Batavia
Kobell jr., Hendrik
Pencilled on the reverse: Het Gouverneurshuis te Batavia.
The painting depicts a view of a bridge with behind it a built-up square. Several people, including two with furled parasols, are shown stading on the bridge. Several large buildings are situated on the square, one of which with a sweeping staircase and another with a pillared archway. In the background to the left a Dutch flag flies above the houses, while in the foreground a man busies himself with barrels near a small boat.
