Project plan for Fort Amsterdam
Burmania, Gemme Onuphrius van / Esdré, Godfried Carel
Title Leupe: Plan van de nieuw te makene Polygone in groot bestek, ten einde alle byzonderheden te konnen aanwyzen.
This drawing is part of a series from 1754 of detailed site and project maps of the most important existing defensive works on Curaçao. These maps served as annexes to the progress reports about the execution of Van Burmania’s plan, which also included the strongholds in the outer bays, sent by the director to the board. This is a draft for the bastions on the eastern wall of Fort Amsterdam. This plan is a compromise between various earlier proposals for this wall.
North is left.
Scale-bar of 10 Rhineland Rods = 155 ‘strepen’.
