Jan Pranger (1700-1773) was director general of the Gold Coast from 1730 -1734.
In this full-length portrait he is depicted standing alongside a table with several documents and an inkstand.
Behind Pranger is a servant with a parasol under his arm, and through the open window a view of a fort.
