Memorial slab in the courtyard of Fort St. George at Elmina
Temminck Groll, Coenraad Liebrecht
Memorial slab by the stair to the governor's wing in the courtyard of Fort St. George at Elmina.
The plaque is in memory of Van Veere, governor of the Dutch West India Company (WIC), who died on March 12, 1758.
Fort St. George at Elmina was the headquarters of the WIC governor on the gold coast after being captured in 1637 from the Portuguese.
Around 1953 the fort was used as a police academy.
