The arrival of the Sardam

This print depicts the arrival of the Sardam, sent to recover the cargo of the Batavia and rescue the castaways. Top left, the Sardam reaches the Houtman Abrolhos; on the top right, the crew notices the fires lit on the island of Wiebe Hayes, who informs them of the massacres that took place over the preceding period; below the ship reaches Beacon Island.
