The Bay of Acapulco and surroundings

The print shows us the Bay of Acapulco, with the town and the Spanish fort seen on the top-left. On 28 October 1624 the Nassau Fleet sailed into the bay for negotiations with the Spanish governor there, both to attempt to exchange some Spanish prisoners for supplies and to see if it could garner some information from the talks. The negotiations yielded little and the fleet left the Bay as soon as the wind allowed it three days later. Subsequently, the ships patrolled the coastline for the ships that were supposed to return from Manila around this time, but failed to spot them. On the bottom right the Bay of Marquez, where some of the ships took in fresh water.
