Title Leupe: Plan van de redoute aan de Kreek Wironji in Rio de Berbice.

The final fortification upstream of Fort Nassau illustrated in this 1764 site map by Ensign Johan Frederik Kurtzius, is the improvised small sconce or redoubt (A) on the mouth of the Wiruni River, situated near to the older Dutch Reformed Church (F) and the sexton’s house (G) on that site.

Kurtzius designed a modest redoubt with a conventional shape.

North is upper right.
