Hendrik van Cooten (1750-c. 1826), who was from Doorn, started working in Demerara as a sworn surveyor in 1773. This map from 1776 is a survey of twenty-seven plantations, conducted by him and Desbaratz. They are descibred through designations, names of owners, and various measurements in the index on the left.
