Map of Beekvliedt and Rotterdam Plantations
Heneman, Johan Christoph von
Title Leupe: Kaart van de Plantagie Riddersburg en een daaraan gelegen stuk land, tusschen La Felicité en Charlottenburg.
This map shows the Felicité, Rotterdam, Beekvliedt and Charlottenburg plantations lying north of (above on the map) the Cottica River.
This survey remeasures the Rotterdam and Beekvliedt plantayions (indicated with the letters A up to and including M) as was requested by the Gouverneur-Generaal.
The owners of the plantations are respectively C. Juliaans and Herman van der Poll, together with WIC.
The method used for the survey is explained elaborately in the notes to the right of the map.
The results are mentioned there as well and explain that the Beekvliedt plantation has less and the Rotterdam plantation more land than expected.
The plantation owners come to terms by allowing C. Juliaans to control the waterworks in return for which he hands in his extra acres.
The Leijenhoop plantation lays to the north (below on the map)
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 19 March 1794 and ratified on 25 April 1798 in Paramaribo.
A sketch version of this map, VEL1944A, is not separately included in the Atlas of Mutual Heritage.
Scale of 150 Chains of 66 Rhineland rods = 185 ‘strepen’.
