Map of the Nieuwe Lavant Plantation

Title Leupe: Kaart van de Plantagien, tusschen de Nieuwe Levant tot aan Paramarica Creeq.
This map shows the Nieuwe Lavant plantation (indicated with the letters A-F) belonging to Sir Duselle, situated north of the Cottica River and the Kras Creek, and east of the Paramaribo Creek. -The survey was requested by Benjamin Duselle himself.
The plantation turns out to measure 2000 Surinamese acres (860 hectares). The surveyor divided the plantation in six lots, which are mapped separately in VEL1934-VEL1938.
Earlier transactions of this piece of land are described in the annotations on the top right of the map.
The Nieuwe Claerenbeek en Pietersburg plantations lie to the south of these lands (below on the map).
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 21 July 1734 and ratified on 4 January 1736 in Paramaribo.
Scale of 100 Chains of 5 ½ Rhineland rods= 170 ‘strepen’.
