Title Leupe: Kaart van de Colonie Suriname en de onderhoorige rivieren en Districten, zoverre derzelver ontdekkingen nu zyn strekkende met de tot Culture gebragt zynde Landen en Plantagien enz.

This sheet is part of an overview of the entire colony of Suriname, made for the directors of the WIC residing in the Dutch Republic. This overview is chiefly meant to delineate the main area of plantations around the Commewijne and Suriname Rivers and to give a geographical impression of the uncultivated lands outside this zone. While the borders of the plantations are drawn tightly, nature is described in general terms like 'Highlands with forest' or 'Mud with sand'. Company gardens, posts, creeks and 'Indian' villages are indicated too. The southwestern region of the colony is shown here, which largely consists out of uncultivated and even unexplored forest. A single branch of the Suriname River can be found at the centre-left of the map.
