Map of plantations along the Commewijne
de Lavaux, Alexander
Title Leupe : Kaart van eenige plantagien gelegen aan beide oevers van de rivier Commewyne.
This map was drawn on the request of Sir Cornelis Ad. van Rheelen.
It serves to measure the extent of the plantation Blakkreek.
This extent turns out to be 1550 Surinamese acres (645 hectares), spread over three subareas all of which have been coloured red.
Adjacent plantations are only depicted in shape and colour.
These are the plantation Clarenbeek in yellow, the plantation Crawassiboen in green and the plantation Inkemonbo or Smirintibo in blue.
While these plantation lay scrambled over the landscape, the land surveyor added a compass to indicate the north as laying on the top left of the map.
The survey was conducted on 20 February 1735 and acknowledged on 24 January 1736.
Certificate of measurement and notes included.
