Until 1660 the inhabitants of Geser resisted the presence of the Company, which forbade them to sell their mace, nutmeg and cloves to other traders. The Company built a small fort at Geser, which was later abandoned when peace was finally signed. The compilers of this database have not as yet come across a source in the literature that identifies this location as a VOC post.
