Pasuruan

Passaroeang was situated on the northern coast of East Java, opposite the island of Madura. It lay on the mouth of the Passaroeang River, where the VOC constructed a lodge and a fort. Around 1743 the region round Passaroeang fell into the hands of the Company. In subsequent years the VOC set up many sugar plantations in the region.
