The castle at Batavia
Langendijk, Dirk
View of a river with bundles of wood stacked on the near bank and the castle at Batavia opposite. To the right of the fort the Dutch flag is flying, while the fort itself features a highly classical arch with double pillars. There are several boats in the river while in the foreground men are pictured chopping wood and stacking it into piles. To the right a dog and a pig, and an open shed with thatched roof that appears to be piled high with chests.
