Map of Porto Marie

Title Leupe: De Port Marie.

This map shows the defences of Porto Marie in 1776. Made by Christoph Serz in 1776, it shows that in this location, little has come of the great plans of the 1740s to enhance the defences of Curaçcao: it shows just one single battery, the design of which is much simpler that the fortifications originally proposed by his predecessors and fellow engineers Esdré, Schrijver and Ribbius in 1742-1743.
