Map of area between the coast and the Cottica river
Heneman, Johan Christoph von
Title Leupe: Kaart van de Plantagien, gelegen tusschen Ephrata en La Metraye aan de Paramarica Kreek.
This map shows several lots laying north of the Cottica river.
The survey is primarily meant to map the as yet uncultivated hinterland of the Beekvliedt plantation, in order for this to be added to this plantation.
This (indicated with the letters J, K, O and P) turns out to measure 54 ½ Surinamese acres (23,435 hectares).
Similar unused hinterlands are indicated around the Onverwagdt plantation (coloured yellow).
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 25 April 1798.
Scale of 140 Chains of 66 Rhineland feet = 172 ‘strepen’.
See also VEL1932, which depicts the same area but includes the lots on the other side of the river.
A preliminary version of this map, VEL1926A, is not included in the Atlas of Mutual Heritage.
