Map of the land of Van Laar
Freuytenier, Jan
Title Leupe: Kaart van een stuk land, gelegen in de Cottica, linkerhand in het afvaren.
This map shows the land of mr. van Laar on the south bank (top on the map) of the Cottica river.
This land came into the possession of Hendrik van Laar after Thomas Pijl acquired it on 30 January 1709 and transfered it to Maria van Overschelde on 3 August 1712 as part of an exchange.
The land surveyor corrected a mistake of an earlier survey as is explained in the text on the right side of the map.
The land of the widow Cuijlenborgh as well as a partially burned Blaka-Beri forest are situated west of the plot of land, and the land of mr. Willem Betloo to its east.
The map was signed by the land surveyor on 29 December 1731 and ratified on 18 February 1732 in Paramaribo.
Scale of 100 Chains of 5 1/2 Rhineland rods = 180 ‘strepen’.
